6 Surprising Ways to Use A Ziplock Bag For An Easier Life

Ziplock bag is usually used to store food, and effectively organize things as well. But there are some of the easy ways in which you can use a ziplock bag to make your life become easier. Let's take a look!

1. Use ziplock bag to make your own ice pack

Need a block of ice for a party or to fill your cooler on a long trip? Pour water into a one- or two-gallon ziplock bag until it's about two-thirds full, and place it in the freezer to create a solid block of ice that will last longer than cubes and cut down on cleanup. Remember not to fill the bag to the top, as you need to leave room for the water to expand.

Similarly, you can use this method to make a DIY reusable ice pack to soothe sprains, bruises, and whatever else may ail you.

2. Use ziplock bag to decorate your cakes

A ziplock bag makes a great disposable piping tube for decorating cakes and cupcakes, or making specialty-shaped cookies. Fill the bag about halfway with icing or dough, and twist the top to force the sweet treat into one corner. Snip off the edge of this corner, and then pipe away using gentle, steady pressure. You also can use a ziplock bag to knead bread dough so your fingers don’t get sticky, or as a DIY funnel to cleanly transfer salt, water, rice, and more from one container to another.

3. Use ziplock bag to organize things while travelling

Sure, everyone knows you need to pack your carry-on toiletries in a quart-size ziplock bag to get through airport security, but you can also use larger versions to keep snacks, medicines, and full-size shampoos and conditioners from oozing out into your luggage. Be ultraorganized and stash a few extra bags to hold wet swimsuits, dirty clothes, or muddy sneakers on the trip back home.

4. Use ziplock bag to store paint brushes

In the workshop a resealable bag can be invaluable for your next paint job. Between paint coat applications while the paint is drying on your next project it's also drying on your brush or roller. Instead of cleaning your brush between every coat and wasting water or mineral spirits just put your brush in a resealable bag, squeeze out the air, then seal to preserve your brush until you're ready for the next paint coat.

5. Use ziplock bag as Resealable Refresher

Don’t waste money on pricey, store-bought scented drawer liners. Make your own disposable scented sachets by filling a ziplock bag with your favorite potpourri, dried rose petals, or lavender buds. Poke a bunch of tiny holes in the bag with a sewing needle, and place the sachet in your drawers to infuse your clothes with the lovely fresh scent.

6. Use ziplock bag as to keep your phone or tablet safe

When cooking or baking, consider if you like using recipes. Now, think about how you view those recipes. If you use a phone or tablet while you cook, put it in a Ziplock bag.
You can pull up the recipe and still view it through the clear bag, but you can keep the device safe. Small particles, like flour or salt, won’t get into any openings in your phone or tablet.

As long as you set your screen so that it stays on, you can use the device as normal. But you don’t have to wash your hands every time you need to touch it.
